Speaking to Rachel Maddow.

Daniels said that when Trump was found guilty, “for that brief moment, it was appropriate for me to testify because I wasn't going to in the first place. I had to shut down my life. I was basically – my choice – exiled.”

But Daniels said that while his friends were celebrating and texting him when the verdict came down and that it was “over,” for him “it was just beginning. For every person who was happy and excited and congratulated me, there was another person who was extremely disappointed.

And it just poured gasoline on some of the things that I had been going through all the time.”Daniels said he was “doxxed,” where personal information such as addresses were maliciously published online, while “my mailbox was destroyed.

My animal is injured. My daughter couldn't go out because there was a press and a toilet out there. I'm afraid to go out. I was afraid to go out and mow the grass.” He added that “the death threats are much more graphic, detailed and brazen, as if people don't care, and it's scary.”

During the trial, Daniels testified about her sexual relationship with Trump in 2006, giving a vivid and graphic description of meeting him at the celebrity Lake Tahoe golf course and then meeting him in his hotel room.

He told the jury of his surprise when he came out of the bathroom and found the man half-dressed. They continued to have sex, and although it was consensual, he also made it clear that he did not enjoy it.

He also said that Trump did not wear a condom.

In an interview with Maddow, Daniels took issue with some reports about her testimony. Although some reports state that he testified that he “blacked out” during the encounter, he said that he “blocked out” what happened.

He said the therapist had told him it was a “defense mechanism” to block out “bad” experiences.“It's much more common for you not to remember these parts than it is for you to remember them,” he said.

“And it makes me feel a little better in chaos or a little more normal. But I don’t — I’m not a liar.”Trump denied her claims and called the trial a political prosecution. He was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments to Daniels.

His sentencing is now scheduled for September 18. During the interview, Maddow discussed portions of Daniels' testimony during the trial, which was not televised.

“The lead up to the trial was quite difficult.

like flying [to New York] over and over again and sitting in rooms and going through things and reliving all these horrific moments,” Daniels said. “I think the only thing that kept me going was thinking that the end was in sight. And there aren't any.”

Daniels said he is a registered Republican and emphasized that he was called to testify and was not paid. “A lot of the hate mail I get is, 'Drop the lawsuit.' I didn't demand it. I didn't get anything.”He defended his testimony and the decision to do so.

“I didn't do anything other than answer those questions,” he said. “I don't go there and present essays about spoken word in the theater, you know?” He added, “For those who say it's uncomfortable to watch or hear, I lived it,” he said.

“All you have to do is listen to my PG-rated version on stands. I had to revive it. I had to say it in court in front of everyone, knowing that this would be public record, that my daughter would read this, that everyone would read this.”

“Maybe this is going too far for our current conversation, but for all the people who like to drag me into talking about what his genitals look like, don't you think for a moment that I wish there was something else I could prove? he said to Maddow.

“I hope he has a birthmark that looks like the state of Texas on his shoulder, or a mole that looks funny. That's the only thing that proves that I did it – that she did take her clothes off in front of me.”

He also said that Trump was “trying to make an example” of him, or “anyone who dares to stand up to him.” The former president is no longer bound by a gag order that prevented him from attacking witnesses in the case.

“I'm not afraid of what he says about me or what he calls me. I'm telling the truth. I'm the only one who keeps telling the truth. "I can prove everything I have ever said," he said.
