 The pharmaceutical industry is quite interested in herbal plants because they have many benefits for maintaining body health. Chair of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) Lampung, Suwartini, explained that the use of traditional medicine often comes from knowledge passed down from generation to generation. According to him, several traditional medicines that have been used for a long time are now starting to be produced in pharmaceutical companies so that people can get them more easily

Because, indeed, a number of plants have been clinically proven to be able to treat certain diseases. "Medicines for colds have basically been passed down from generation to generation," he said.

Another example is the meniran plant which people often consider a weed. However, after clinical research it has been proven to increase the body's immunity. 

Apart from that, the celery plant has been proven to be effective in reducing high blood pressure for moderate and mild types of hypertension. For this reason, people are now increasingly looking at herbal plants and returning to nature as an alternative treatment. 

Moreover, the types of diseases are now increasingly complex "There are more and more people who want to return to nature, so people's curiosity about traditional or herbal medicines also continues to increase," he said. 

Another reason is economic factors and dissatisfaction with chemical drugs that do not provide healing effects. "The people's economy is currently declining and consumption of chemical medicines is not getting better, so they are finally starting to switch to traditional medicines," he said.

Use Caution Even so, you cannot use herbal medicine carelessly, you must be careful and follow the instructions. "If you make it yourself, people should seek information from experts so they don't just drink it without knowing the properties and how to use it properly," he said. 

Apart from the pharmaceutical industry, the benefits of herbal plants have also received great attention in medical circles to the point that there is a Traditional Community Pharmacy Association (Himatra).

 In fact, the Community Health Center has also started to promote family medicinal plants. “Usually the information is at the Posyandu. "Indonesia is indeed rich in traditional medicinal plants," he said.
